Qing Dynasty Imperial Concubine's Costume. Qīng Guì Fēi Zhuāng.

San Francisco: [Circa 1960's]. Folio. Gouache On Silk, Very Good with minor staining, some warping, pencil scribbles on verso; artist's mailing label adhered on verso. 11 1/16" x 17 13/16" inches; 8.1 x 17.8 cm. Gouache By Betty Ng of Historical Chinese Women's Costumes. The artist was born in Hong Kong in 1930.
She received an MA degree from the University of British Columbia, Canada in 1962. She lived in Berkeley, CA in the late 1960s , studying for her doctorate. She had shows at Berkeley and at Maxwell Gallery in San Francisco and was the subject of an article in the San Francisco Chronicle of Feb. 5, 1967 entitled "Miss Snowflake at the Easel." She did images of the Bay Area in her series "Bay Area through Oriental Eyes" using her own mineral colors with one brush. Listed in Dictionary of Canadian Artists. vol. 5, pp. 1373-1374. She died in 2013 in Oakland, CA. Item #15-6823
