In 1945 he continued his studies with art courses at the Beauxs Arts in Paris, and Le Grande Chaumiere. He is well known as one of France's architectural planners.
Chimkevitch's first exhibit was at Poitiers in 1950. He then participated in the Premier Salon of Jazz in Paris, the Salon de le Peinture a L'eau, and exhibited his works at the Salon d'Automne in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Among many other expositions entered were expositions at Galerie Rousso in Paris, 1962; and in 1963 at Washington's Obelisk Gallery.
