New York: 1782 and July 29, 1783. Als. 2pp. folded, 8 x 8.125 inches. Invoice for 4 days attendance at the Legislature in Albany, approved for payment by Evert Bancker in 1782. Signed again on the verso by Laurance after receiving payment from the State treasurer Gerard Bancker.

Laurance was an important Revolutionary War figure and was the Judge Advocate General in the trial of then Major-General Benedict Arnold's accomplice, Major André, who was hung as a spy at the time of his Arnold's treason. Laurance latter was appointed a Federal judge by President George Washington and the served as Senator form New York.

Provenance: from the collection of Charles Walker Andrews (1861-1946) an attorney in Syracuse, whose father Charles Andrews (1827-1918) was the Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals. Item #51-1234
