Warren Heckrotte, from whose collection this atlas came, commented in his notes: "This is meant as a school atlas and it is hoped that the raised relief will enhance learning: 'Through the eyes to the mind' was the maxim of Pestalozzi --- the preface states. This attempt is not nearly as successful as Ravenstein's raised relief atlas which has the mountains much more raised. On the other hand, Ravenstein's atlas has only 7 maps (in the English edition) and is about as thick as this atlas."
