Major work on the flora of the Dutch East Indies. Karl Ludwig Blume (1796-1862) was a German born Dutch botanist who travelled and worked in Java, where he was the first director of the Buitenzorg Botanic Garden and later became director of the Leiden Rijksherbarium.
