Guilford, England: Charles W Traylen, 1955. Elephant oblong folio. 17.75 x 22.25 inches. Full red crushed morocco by Zaehnsdorf, titled and ruled in gilt on the upper cover, all edges gilt, inner gilt dentelles, cloth hinges and Cockerel marbled endpapers together with the matching slipcase. Fine condition.

The best plate from the original edition "Partridge Shooting" is enclosed in a built-in folder as the rear. Abbey, Scenery of Great Britain and Ireland, no. 14. Plate is 14 (14). Original plate watermarked "J Whatman 1805."

Title page and contents page decorated and coloured, 20 coloured plates reproduced from the original hand-coloured aquatint plates, no text, plates captioned in English and French,copy. This exact fascimile reprint of the first and only edition of one of the rarest of all sporting books, printed in eight colours by offset lithography by W S Cowell, Butter Market, Ipswich, Suffolk, England, published by Charles W Traylen, Antiquarian Bookseller, 87 North Street, Guildford, England. This copy is number 13 of the edition deluxe, limited to twenty copies, each of which contains one of the original plates.
