Boards lightly scuffed and stained, with edgewear and corners bumped, mild warping; vol. I and 3 with cracking at joints, vol. II with light cracking starting; bookplate and bookseller sticker on paste-downs, endpapers with light fraying; pages toned with foxing, occasional tear, small stain, or fold; (2) leaves with tape repair in vol. 1; vol. 2 with light damp staining and several gatherings with small wormholes; vol. 3 with damp staining in preliminaries and several additional leaves, staining at tail edge; a very good set....Scipione Ammirato (Italy, 1531-1601) was a Renaissance author and historian. He was prolific, writing many important works discussing literature, the genealogy of important Italian families, politics, and the history of Florence. His Florentine Histories was originally published in two parts, the first just before he died, and the second four decades later in 1641. In 1647, the first part of Histories was reprinted in an expanded version in two volumes (Grässe).
