Mr Maura, great-grandson of a five-time prime minister of Spain, lived in the UK for most of his life and co-directed the Iberian Centre with the illustrious historian Sir Raymond Carr. Joaquín Romero Maura – died lin June 2022 at the age of 81, at a senior home in Zaragoza, Spain. The historian – who held a PhD from Oxford University – was widowed and childless.
