Oakland, Calif., ca. 1957. Ten original drawings by Doris Miller Johnson (1907-2001) in pencil, ink, and wax pencil. Image sizes approx: 84 x 130 mm to 141 x 199 mm. Drawn and dated by the artist between March and July 1957 during travels in New York and Europe. Several sheets with detailed scene descriptions verso, such as the following from the image pictured: "Just before dawn, before arriving in Dallas, Texas. The night clear and starry, the wing of the plane dark for the exception of the red hot engine. The earth studded with lights like jewels- greens, reds- mingled with the stars.
