Angoumois, France: 18th century. Blank sheet of laid paper countermarked I Villedary. Jean Villedary was a French papermaker active in Angoumois from 1668 to 1758. (From 1758 to 1812, the Villedary firm had a branch in Guelderland, Holland.) Similar to Heawood 71. 9-3/4 X 16 inches; 25 X 40 cm. Minor spotting, staining, and handling wear. Paper very bright. Very Good.
